Rascal Electric
Scooters
Although there are many different electric scooters
out there, one very popular company is the Rascal
Company. It makes
a number of different Rascal Electric
Scooters.
These mobility scooters are popular because of their
functionality (can be used inside and outside) and
because they have three different types of
scooters.
Rascal divides up their mobility scooters up into
three types (1) Convertible scooters, (2) Foldable Scooters,
and (3) Additional scooters. Each of these types has
several models included in each of them. They all generally come in
four colors to choose from: black, blue, red, and
yellow. The price
range of these scooters varies as well as they almost all fall
in the range of $1000 to $7000.
Convertible Scooters
The convertible scooters are called this because the
front part can be detached from the unit. This is great for
allowing you to adjust the scooter to a simple chair in your
home.
There are essentially two versions available: Rascal
600T and Rascal 600F. The main difference between
the two is the Rascal 600T is a three wheel model and the
Rascal 600F is a four wheel model. Both models only come in red
and offer a step through frame and have a basket on the front
tiller.
In addition, they have several other features in
common. The max
speed of both models tops out at 5 mph which is a standard
speed for most mobility scooters. However, it has definite
performance advantages compared to other mobility
scooters. For
instance, its travel range is up to 25 miles. This is 5 to 10 miles more
than a number of other mobility scooters. Also, it has a weight
capacity of up to 450 lbs. This is very good as a number
of models fall into the 300 to 350 lb max
category.
Finally, its max degree incline goes up to 14 degrees
which is 2 to 6 degrees better than most other mobility
scooters.
All of these performance advantages are very nice, but is
also supplemented by a breakdown design that makes for
easy transport and storage.
Foldable Scooters
The foldable scooters have this name because they can
essentially foldup like an accordion. This folding makes for easier
transport and storage.
There are essentially three mobility scooter types
available: Rascal AutoGo 555, Rascal AutoGo 550, and the Rascal
Fold & Go 370.
The Rascal AutoGo 555 is a four wheeled vehicle with
two baskets (one in the front and one in the back for groceries
and other items.
It comes in black and its main advantages include its
folding-ability and its light weight as it weighs only 109
lbs. Its other
performance features are fairly standard as it has a max speed
of 4.2 mph, a traveling range of up to 10 miles, a weight
capacity of 300 lbs, and a max incline of 12
degrees. These
numbers highlight a vehicle that will need to be charged up
more than other models, but does offer a good max incline and a
standard max speed.
The Rascal AutoGo 550 is very similar to the Rascal
AutoGo 555 in design and performance numbers. However, it does not have
baskets included and comes not in black, but blue and red
instead.
The Rascal Fold & Go 370 is designed more for
comfort than the other two versions and offers an armrest, seat
backpack, basket on front tiller, and a
cupholder.
However, its increases in comfort come at a little bit of
a sacrifice to its performance numbers. Its max speed goes down
to 3.8 mph and its max incline is 10 degrees. In addition, its weight
capacity is 250 lbs. These features result
in decision to be made on whether additional comfort or
performance is your priority.
Additional Scooters
The additional scooters section has the more
conventional scooters available by other
manufacturers.
They have the standard 3 and 4 wheel versions that have a look
somewhat similar to a riding lawn mower. These versions are built more
for performance and durability, especially on outside
terrain.
There are essentially four types available: Rascal
655, Rascal 500T, Rascal 300, and the Rascal
115.
The Rascal 655 has a heavy duty designed to carry
heavier set people and comes in red. It could up to 550 lbs and
its performance numbers are compelling. It reaches a max speed of 8
mph and has a traveling range of up to 25
miles. These
two numbers suggest a vehicle that is fast and can travel
far distances. However, it does weigh
quite a bit more than other scooters as it weighs 266 lbs
and is one frame. This means it will be
more difficult to travel with this scooter. A lift would mostly be
recommended.
However, this additional weight also means it will be
stronger as it is one unit.
The Rascal 500T has a three wheel design with a
basket in front.
It is tailor made for easy transport and comes in
red. This
particular model can be broken down into parts for traveling or
kept as one unit as the total weight is 146
lbs. It has
basic performance numbers with a max speed of 4 mph and a
weight capacity of 300 lbs. However, it does have
better than average incline numbers with a 10 degree
incline max.
This model boasts a comfortable ride that is easy to
travel. It
appears to be a hybrid between comfort and performance as
it has the look of a motor scooter on its front tiller,
but the look of a nice office chair for its
seating.
The Rascal 300 is a four wheel scooter reserved for
Veterans. It is an
award winning scooter that has a fairly standard
design. To get
more information on this scooter, contact the local VA Medical
Center.
The Rascal 115 is a no frills scooter that has a
basic design and a low price. It is a four wheel scooter
with a slender body and comes in red. Its performance numbers are
adequate as it has a max speed of 3.8 mph and a traveling range
of 8 miles and a max incline of 6 degrees. The good news is it is a very
light weight scooter that only weighs 92 lbs. This makes it ideal for
traveling and transport.
All of these scooters make for some interesting
decisions for a scooter buyer as they must decide what their
priorities: performance, transport, storage, or other
features.
However, these options for Rascal Mobility
Scooters are truly a plus when you are able
to pick out one that will best suit you or a family member’s
needs.
