Kids
Motorized Scooters
Kids Motorized Scooters are becoming
increasing popular with the younger crowd. Very rarely can you visit
an urban neighborhood without seeing someone scooting by in
a kids gas or electric scooter. Kids Motorized Scooters
are great toy for kids because they are simply a cool
alternative to riding a bike or walking. The young crowd loves them
and so it is easy to see why they are a popular birthday and
holidays present. Here, is a quick rundown
on what you can expect to find with kids gas and electric
scooters.
Kids Gas Powered
Scooters
These motorized scooters tend to come with
a smaller sized engine than the adult gas
scooters.
Generally, these scooters are anywhere from 33 to
50cc. This are
a lot smaller than the average gas scooter which has an
engine of 150cc or 250cc. This smaller engine sizes
results in a smaller speed. This is good considering
the younger age of the riders. Speeds of these scooters
tend to be anywhere from 20 to 40mph with the average around
30mph.
Kids Gas Powered Scooters can usually go
about 15 to 20 miles on a tank of gas. This is a good sized
amount of gas for kids that should limit even the busiest
riders to only on fillup a month or every other
month.
One variation that you will find with the
stand up version is how wide the deck is on the
scooter. Some
kids gas powered scooters offer a wider deck which is great
for those with bigger foot or those who want a little more
room. However,
all scooters generally have about the same sized wheels as
10” wheels are pretty standard across the
board.
Generally, you should operate for the more sturdy
scooters that have a solid frame as they are more apt to
handle any jumping off curbs and other paces the kids
will put them through.
Kids Electric
Scooters
Kids Electric Scooters are an alternative
to the kids gas powered scooters. These electric scooters
offer the option of using batteries over gasoline which is
of course cheaper with today’s gas prices and is better for
the environment. In addition, kids electric
scooters are a roughly 10 to 15 miles slower than their gas
scooter counterparts. This means most kids
electric scooters will go about 10 to 20mph with the average
around 15mph.
For parents, concerned about speed issues, these slightly
slower speeds make for a better alternative.
Kids Electric Scooters come in several
variations where you can find sit down versions, stand up
versions and even skateboard versions. The skateboard versions
are particularly interesting to look at for anyone that grew
up using the old-fashioned skateboard.
Kids Electric Scooters tend to have about
the same traveling distance as kids gas powered
scooters. They
get about 15 to 20 miles of distance on one
charge. In
addition, they come with a similar body and frame as kids
gas scooters.
Even the wheel sizes are the same at 10”.
Prices for kids gas powered scooters and
kids electric scooters are very comparable ranging in price
from $300 to $1300 with the average range around $300 to
$600. In fact,
aside from the differing speeds, the two types of scooters
are very similar.
Whether you decide on a gas or electric
scooters, kids
motorized scooters will be hit. If you have any doubts
about this, ask around and you are likely to hear kids
motorized scooters discussed almost as often as video
games. If that
isn’t a ringing endorsement, I don’t know what
is.
